we're all living proof that nothing lasts

as much as i hate to hear it...i have an interview today with an elementary school on the westside, near orange park. i was working at rutherford, an alternative middle school, and it's a job i totally could have done but decided that, since i have like two days' experience in middle school, to look for an elementary job. and this seems like the best fit, so we will see. i definitely need the money, and i had thought about just substituting for a while, but the pay and all the expenses that are going to be coming up soon don't make it a reasonable choice. carrie and i have been looking around jacksonville for houses, and i had no idea jacksonville was/is so stinking huge! there's an area called murray hill that is near downtown, but it's like an old historic area and i really like it and the prices are good for houses, and there's an old theater that they converted into a christian music place, kinda like the old refuge in st. petersburg but bigger. i keep thinking we're going play there someday, i just don't know who "we" is yet. :) anyway, i gotta get ready for my interview. very melancholy today. like eeyore. :)

we have titles now? been a long time gone... :)

wow. i have talked to people i haven't talked to in years, and still have others to talk to. getting married leads to that i guess. yeah. i proposed to my girlfriend about a month ago and neglected to tell the internet world-at-large. december 17th, sunday morning, at sunrise. how freaking cool. it's late so i can't really get into it, but it's all good, and all God. honestly. His timing is proving more and more perfect every day. if you haven't gotten an invitation, we probably haven't gotten that far down the list yet :) but know i love you guys and probably will be talking to you soon. maybe on myspace...:)

it amazes me what a great band caedmon's call is. i used to lump them in the "contemporary Christian" category, and now they're one of my favorite bands all time. ok, top five bands, regardless of style or religious affliation. :)

mine go, in no order of importance:

1) the clash

2) uncle tupelo

3) caedmon's call

4) poor old lu

5) and this has been a revolving slot, but i think the promise ring are there to stay, at least for now. this has been my five for a few years now, and i guess i'm just afraid of change, but that's about right. i'll elaborate later. suggestions?

later...

wow. troy helms' voice: "what's goin' awn!?"   :)   i just discovered that now there's a "footprint" log on the feedback log, which i guess is just a record of who's been here, when and from where. cool.

my parents and josh are on vacation in the keys and i stayed home, for quite a few reasons, and one of them is because there's a lot i need to do to get ready for this school year. i haven't applied for either a job or certification in the state of florida, so i need to do both. and clean my room and my car...i got a new car. the newest car i've ever had and the first one i've ever paid for (or will be paying for.) :)  i had the old fox, the one that i always left the windows down and either it rained or roxy would jump in the open window and wait to go somewhere. and a few weeks ago dad asked me what i was going to do with it, either spend the money and fix it or trade it in on a newer car. and we both kinda decided that if i was going to be teaching next year i would need reliable transportation so we had talked about waiting and trying to get something new. well, about two days later he came home with the phone number off the back of a car he had seen on the way home, and it turned out to be a 1999 chevy (once geo) metro, and said that if i was interested i should call. and the owners were a young couple, aaron and angie, about five minutes from the house, who had had a baby daughter about a week before and had a new four door dodge but needed to sell the metro. and if you've never seen a metro, it's the little hatchback that's all rounded like an egg, and they come in purple and teal and easter egg colors. and it's got a three-cylinder engine that makes about 55 horsepower with less than one liter displacement (1000 cc, less than most harleys). so it's about the closest thing to a four-wheel moped that you can buy, but it's PERFECT and it gets about 40-45 miles per gallon. they were asking $1200 and with the $84 tax and title and all it'll be about $1400 for everything. and mom and dad "loaned" me the money without interest and i am going to pay them back monthly. i was so freaking excited. am so freaking excited. and carrie and i went to disney world last saturday because i had a day left on my ticket from december and it expires tomorrow and it rained for about three hours so we went on rides that we probably normally wouldn't have tried, like "the many adventures of winnie the pooh" which was actually kinda cool except for the trippy "pooh's dream" sequence that carrie said used to give her bad, or at least strange, dreams. it was fun, and if it weren't $20,000 or so to get married there, i think i would be awesome to have a disney wedding. i always thought that the idea was stupid and commercial and everything a child of the nineties is supposed to think, but i totally have a respect for, or at least an understanding of, walt disney that i didn't have before. there was a quote by him in one of the stores, about the fairy tale being fashionable again, and between the two world wars and the depression and everything that was happening in america and the world then, his dream was something that probably wasn't at all "fashionable" then, but it was totally needed. there was a biography of him that i wish i would have bought but didn't. anyway, disney is awesome. :)

i have to actually do some work while i'm at the library. thank you whoever in california and maryland came to my xanga. sorry it was so boring. :) later...

passed some time on the stoop

on the block where we used to sit

i thought about it, oh too much

i thought so hard i couldn't see

pete rode by on his hutch

i looked down and tied my shoes

i thought about you, oh too much

i looked up and then i knew

i guess these things were meant to be

and there's no use fighting what's in me
